For many of us who have turned up at Champion Hill at some point in the last half a decade, the affinity with Dulwich Hamlet was immediate. For all the half-baked takes from confused comment writers, nonplussed by the groundswell of support for a scruffy club from south London wedged between a car wash and a Sainsbury’s superstore, Hamlet were still unique and brilliant.

For all the straight-faced cliches about hipsters, craft ale and half-time falafel wraps, the atmosphere there was something joyous and genuine, something to be cherished.

Dulwich Hamlet have been told to stop using their own name and initials by the owners of their ground, who last night kicked the 125-year-old non-league out of their historic home.

Meadow, the property investment fund who own Champion Hill, told Dulwich Hamlet on Monday evening that their licence to play at the ground had been revoked. Then on Tuesday afternoon the club received an unprecedented legal threat from lawyers representing ‘Greendales IP LLC’, a new subsidiary of Meadow.

Dulwich Hamlet FC’s controversial landlords could be forced off by compulsory purchase order

Town hall chiefs are considering forcing beleaguered Dulwich Hamlet FC’s ground’s owners off the site.

A paper due to be discussed by Southwark council’s cabinet next Tuesday, March 13, suggests imposing a compulsory purchase order (CPO) on landlords Meadow Residential, who have been trying to build 151 flats on the site.

A popular London football club is facing being closed if they don’t stump up £121,000 in 21 days.

Dulwich Hamlet, who are regularly watched by crowds in excess of 1,500, were handed the unexpected rent bill by their landlords, Meadow Residential LLP, last week.

Meadow chiefs have threatened to issue a winding up petition on the football club if the money is not paid by March 23.

Rio Ferdinand has made a multi-million pound offer to save troubled non-league club Dulwich Hamlet, The Independent can reveal.

Ferdinand made the offer, close to £10m, through his affordable housing company Legacy Foundation on 12 December last year, to buy the Champion Hill ground from owners Meadow Residential. Meadow rejected it and now want more than £13m for the site, or else one of the country’s most popular non-league clubs is facing death.

Sadiq Khan has ‘deep concerns’ over the future of Dulwich Hamlet after doomed Rio Ferdinand rescue attempt

The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has re-iterated his “deep concerns” about the future of Dulwich Hamlet FC after American owners Meadow refused to sell the ground to former England captain Rio Ferdinand, as revealed by The Independent.

Ferdinand made a £10million bid to save the club in December which Meadow have rejected, as they continue to deny the club the money it needs to survive.
